Qur'an Curriculum

Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said, “The best among you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it.” Our Quranic Studies program aims to develop well-rounded future leaders who are guided by the Quran and Sunnah. It nurtures a strong connection with the Book of Allah through its memorization, understanding, and implementation. Focus is also placed from a very young age on the correct pronunciation and reading of the Qur’an as students practice reciting three different Juzs in each grade level starting from third grade.

Early Childhood (PreK 3-4)

In Pre-Kindergarten, students begin memorizing many of the short chapters of the Qur’an. They learn the general meaning of each chapter as well as the key vocabulary. They are taught to understand the beauty and magnificence of the Book as they learn the etiquette of reading the Quran.

Elementary School (K-5)

In the elementary grades, students follow a systematic approach to complete memorizing Juz’ Amma by the end of fifth grade. A strong focus is placed on understanding the relevance of the Qur’an to students’ lives as they study the meanings and Qur’anic vocabulary as well as learn the Qur’an stories and the values that they promote. In upper elementary, students are introduced to some of the Tajweed rules. In addition, weekly revisions are assigned to help students retain the memorized chapters.

Upper School (6-10)

In middle and high school, students continue memorizing and studying selected chapters and passages from the Qur’an while perfecting their reading and pronunciation skills. A strong focus is placed on understanding as they study the essence of each chapter, learn extensive Qur’anic vocabulary, and create a Qur’anic map mind. They study historical events in light of the Quran, analyze their values, and explore the relevance to students’ lives. The program is designed to complete reciting the entire Qur’an by the end of high school with correct pronunciation and Tajweed.

As students venture into the wonders of the Quran, they come to realize that studying the Quran is a revival of their souls and illumination of their minds.
