PBL is a systematic teaching method that engages students in learning important knowledge and 21st century skills through an extended, student-influenced, inquiry process. The learning is structured around complex, authentic questions, and carefully designed products and learning tasks. Students spend a considerable amount of time working on their projects, and also host an annual exhibit night at the end of this process. Students always walk away with more than just textbook information. They walk away with real life skills, they walk away with a sense of accomplishment, with teamwork skills, with critical thinking skills, and with a deeper understanding of the curriculum and learning unit. PBL is a major component of our Islamic Whole Child model.
