In Physical Education classes, the goal is to see improvement and development in four main areas; fitness, sports skills, cooperation/ social skills, and nutrition. During our fitness unit, students engage in different activities to improve their muscular strength, muscular and cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. During our sports skills unit, students improve skills associated with sports, such as basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. Cooperation and social skills unit work to improve skills, such as sportsmanship, team work, leadership, conflict resolution, communication, handling pressure, etc. During nutrition, students learn what makes a well-balanced diet and the benefits of eating healthy. Field days, health Fairs, and students-vs-teachers games are annual events that help promote healthy eating and healthy living.
In high school, Physical Education is one of the elective courses that are required for graduation.
